THE LONG AWAITED
“RETURN OF THE FEZ MEN!”
This show opened on OCTOBER 14, 2023 in Cambria, CA at the incredible CRUISE CONTROL CAMBRIA Art Gallery. The show ran through November 25, 2023. Cambria is one of my favorite spots in the whole world, located right on the coast of Central California. This small beach town of 7000 is known for the scenic Moonstone Beach, the Hearst Castle at San Simeon, and the laid back and peaceful atmosphere that make it one of the best places to simply get away and relax.
CRUISE CONTROL CAMBRIA is a 1,000-square-foot “casual contemporary” gallery founded by Charlie Smith, who left his job at the USPS to pursue his dream of creating a community art space and work with California artists to showcase their work one artist at a time. In its first year, Cruise Control has hosted shows by Jeff Canham, Jeff Lancaster, Anna Fusco, Jake Kean Mayman, Cooper McDonnell, Charlotte Beavers, and more. “I met Charlie at the gallery in November 2022 and talked about how it came to be and where he wanted to take it. It was the very top of my list when I started considering doing this show, and I couldn’t be more honored to have a show at Cruise Control.”
THE ART SHOW: This is Jaimie’s first art show in a few years and features approximately 120 new paintings of his signature “Fez Men” characters and more. Opening night was October 14th, 2023, and also featured live music at the show by guitarist Michale VanGo. Jaimie performed an intimate acoustic set of his own music the following day, Sunday, October 15th at the gallery, telling stories about the songs and answering questions. There was amazing craft beer from local brewery COLONY MASH BREWING. The show also features a cool array of Jaimie’s fez memorabilia, including vintage Shriner marching drums, a small fez collection and more! And don’t forget to make-a-wish with the “Fez Baby.”
